does anyone know the weight loss from a c/f hood or c/f trunk? just curious what the exact weight savings were...

My guess is that its a huge piece of steel, but yeah, hmmm, what a mystery.

i cant answer your question but i do know that the weight loss to E.T. gain ratio is 100 lbs generally shaves .1 seconds off your quarter mile. i would only get a cf hood for looks, unless you plan to reduce a considerable amount more weight

A stock 4th gen hood is around 30 lbs., 5th gens are a little heavier around 40 lbs.
A CF hood weighs around 15 lbs. thus you can drop 15-25 lbs. depending on what you're driving.
I think CF trunks provide only minimal weight savings, a few lbs.

Every 15 lbs. you lose is close to the equivalent of gaining 1 hp.

you can say that its .1 second to every 100 lbs, but wouldnt that number change due to your power to weight ratio?

basically is what your saying.... if you have a lude with 200 whp, and a stock lude with whatever the stat is, say 160 whp, 100 lbs is still going to be .1 off each one of their times?

i disagree. im not trying to start a big argument i just dont think it makes sense, someone correct me if im wrong

weight up high, and in the front, is the worst place to have it.

a light hood will improve handling, braking, and acceleration.

I saved approximately 20 lbs. Stock hood weighs somewhere around 43-45 lbs. My no name c/f hood weighs 25 lbs.

it wont make much difference in launching, the lost weight upon the tires will be made up farther down the track

My arguement to that would be as you're ET drops, it's harder to improve the time. So the 100 pounds off the 160hp car won't make quite as much of a HP/Weight ratio difference as the 200hp car, but also remember it's easier to drop a higher ET by the same amount as it is a lower ET. I'm guessing it most likely comes pretty close to canceling out and working out to a .1 difference reguardless

yea i get what your saying.... i think were both right to an extent. for higher ET's, say a 14. 5, 45 pounds off will make a world of a difference more compared to a low 13 second car with 45 pounds taken off of it...

Does anyone know if you could mount a OEM spolier on a C/F trunk on a 5th gen Prelude? Ive seen mugen wings on c/f trunks but not any OEM wings.
