I'm sure there is a hot lash setting but I don't know what it is. I've always adjusted valves after letting the car sit overnight.

you could do it when it is hot...just let it cool down...i don't think there is that much metal expansion that will effect the clarences.

or you could just leave it over night and do it when you wake up.

I would like to know how to adjust the valve springs. I have this rattling noise from the engine and some of my friends say it is b/c of one or more of the valve springs are lose. BY THE WAY do anybody know HOW and WHAT to do when tuning a GSR???

Whenever I do it myself I let the car sit overnight or for a very long time just to be safe. But I think it's okay to do it when its still warm......cause when I take it in to the shop they probably don't give it much time to let the engine completely cool down before they do it.

well the dealership does it when the engine is cold, do u think they might have it set to slightly different clearances?

the manuals state that your valve lashing should be adjusted when the motor is below 400'F, that's when it's considered "cold". i think that's also roughly 201'C. you never mentioned why you wanted to do your valve lashing. it's probably your clearances that's making the rattling noise. after the valve lashing let us post up if you still have the problem.

if your valve springs are loose then your head is saying bye bye to you...it's the clarences...most definately.

that means they charge more? since its takes time to cool down

how much did you guys pay at dealer?

These blocks are aluminum, and even when i change my spark plugs and i have to take them out with that socket wrentch, i let it sit til its cool.

Just let it sit over night and you should be fine.
