Weirdest thing happened. Need smart peoples' help!!!
I have a 97 EX(D16Y8) and the HG started leaking so I took the head off yesterday to replace it. Had the head pressure checked and milled(.003in). I also did arp head studs just to assure myself. I put everything back together and went to start the car. Fired right up, idled perfect!!! For about 5 seconds, then I heard a funky sound from near the timing belt area and the car died. Hasnt started since. Its getting spark for sure and fuel(I think, smells like it). checked the compression and all cylinders are at about 150. Whats weird is that I was getting 200 a couple weeks ago. I thought maybe if the timing was off enough that could cause the compression to be lower. Although, I dont think it would stop the car from starting. I am stumped as of now. Any help, thoughts, or ideas would help a LOT. Thanks!
If the timing belt is off valves can meet pistons, which could certainly make it hard for the engine to start or keep running.
weird sounds? hmmpp...check if your timing is right... get a helms or something?!?
you may have bent valves... keep us posted!!! good luck!!!
