Default Tuned VAFC on the Dyno ! Chart inside.. Tell me your opinions

At last dyno time arrived ! For my tuner it was the very first VAFC he ever tuned !

My Euro 1998 R has the following mods :

DC JDM Header with testpipe
JDM Apex N1 Exhaust.
Kenji P28 ECU
AEM CAI

VTEC is set at 5000RPM from the VAFC.

The dyno reads in BHP, I dont know what's the difference from BHP to WHP .

On the first run timing was at 15deg and the dyno read 205 BHP, the timing was advanced by 2 deg and power came up to 207BHP.

Then we started setting the fuel on the VAFC. The motor was running very rich especially from 7000 RPM onwards. After playing with VAFC the final result of 211.7 BHP was acheived.

The car felt MUCH better after it was tuned through all the rev range.

See the chart below and tell me your opinions on the final result.

Looks like the AEM dip is not too bad...

I was about to say, there wasn't much difference... do you have the graph with original 205bhp curve? 7hp peak gain for "free" isn't too shabby, lets see gains on the rest of the curve.

did you try lowering the vtec point? that might get rid of that dip in your tq curve and flatten it out a bit.

No we didnt really! The only tuner with a proper dyno on the island never tuned a VAFC before mine so I bet he didnt know that we could lower the Vtec to get rid of the dip!

Vtec is set @ 5000 RPM on the VAFC. Do you think that by making it @ 4800 will help or lower ? Its a bit of a difficult to task to go again to the dyno !

I hope you have a good a/f gauge to make daily adjustments on the V-AFC. It will change your fuel everytime your temp/barametric pressure/ elevation changes! A good a/f will tell you the changes being made by the ratio it shows. Good luck.
