Poll: Opinion on which engine would best fit my needs?
I can't decide on which engine would be best. I'm looking for a dependable daily driver that will give me a little kick when I want it
. I'd like this engine to last me a long while, and I probably wouldn't be turbo-ing it for a while. I do not have a very big budget, and am looking to stay under $1000 for EVERYTHING needed to do the swap. VTEC would be nice, and I'm pretty sure I can handle the wiring. I'd like to stick to D-series as well, can't afford any B-series. Sorry it's kind of a big poll, but hey, there's alot of D-series choices

A6 with Z6 head (w/ a mild street cam, using a obd0 to obd1 conversion harness)
- Cheap (heads can be found in good condition for a 100)
- Can use a mild street cam (stage 1, no valve train upgrade)
- D16Y8 manifold or D16Z6, both great manifolds
- 9.95:1 compression (daily driveable)
- Can turbo down the line, but dont recommend it

If it's for a daily driver, you might as well not go crazy on compression so that you can run regular fuel. D16Z6 would be my recommendation.

Doesn't it have to be obd1 to run VTEC??? and I think d15 has less torque but not sure.

The D15B VTEC has both less torque and horsepower than a Z6. I see them advertised as having 125-130hp all the time, but that's incorrect - they really only have about 120hp. Not a big difference, but still a difference nonetheless.
And yes, OBD-1 is required to run VTEC properly.

Where would you recommend I buy a D16Z6, if I was to get it online and not from a junk yard. I checked HMO and they don't have them and I'd like to get one with everything needed.
