Seem welding?

Default Seam welding?

I am about to build a 89 si CRX and my friend is trying to convince me to seam weld it, should I do it? how much good does it do?

What are you building it for? Seam welding stiffens the entire body of the car making it less likely to flex.

Yeah, seem welding is where you leave ugly slag and drip all over and nothing stays together. Seems like you were welding but not really.

well if you don't know anything about it, what is your friend doing to convince you? I would recommend not doing anything that you know nothing about simply because your friend recommends it.

well he is the one who knows what he is doing I am the one who is learning he has it done to his toyota and recomended it, I was just wondering if it is worth the effort since i'm not building a drift car like his toyota.

What is the purpose of the car? all out road race or drag? if its mainly a street car its not really worth the time and effort.

well at first it will just be for street use until I get a little more money as of now its strictly a garage car until I get the body work done. but I have it all torn apart to paint I guess I will just have him seam weld it. just in case.

yes its good
yes its labor intensive. but you should notice a nice difference.


im about to seam weld a crossmember, so i donthave to worry about this **** cracking again`

toyota 86's have chassis issues with alrge amounts of power. this helps solve that issue.

itll make u stiff

But what are you trying to seem weld ? Some things just need to be tacked into place.
