Tube front end - anyone got pics?
Well my buddy is looking at buying an older crx (85-87) to build as a for-fun drag car. We are talking about doing a tubed front end. I remember seeing some pics of cars with the chassis cut just in front of the front strut towers and the rest was all tube-frame. Anyone got any pics of setups like this? Looking especially for up-close details like how/where they joined the tubes to the unibody chassis.
One of our main reasons for doing this is to give a little more room to work with a B-series engine in the cramped engine bays of these cars - if we use a fiberglass 1-piece front end we should be able to run the tubes far enough forward to get an additional 5-6 inches of room...
Also can anyone recommend any good chassis shops in SoCal, particularly shops that have done stuff like this before? Still not sure if we are going to do it ourselves or pay a pro...

Heres the MS1Motorsports.com drar CRX. Done in house. Make SURE you do alot of research before starting a project on this scale. It is very easy to half *** things and lose strength in the overall chassis.

thank you sir, actually I already found your car (via search) and printed out all the pics. It's a super-nice setup, gotta give you props. We aren't planning anything quite as drastic as your setup though - we just want to cut the frame rails a little bit forward of the strut towers, and fab a new core/rad support setup. I have seen a couple cars setup like this before on here, unfortunately I can't seem to find the pics anymore.
My friend who wants to do this works at a place that designs/engineers/fabricates tube-frame sandrails. The owner is going to do most of the work for us...
