Default Integra 90-93: no spark at all, what to check?

I have a friend that has a 90-93 integra that the engine cranks but it doesnt turn over. He drove it to work(its sitting there now) and then when he got off it didnt start. I put the key in and put it on the "on" and the fuel pump was humming so that one i checked off the list of the main relay and the fuel pump being alright, isnt that correct?

I took the #1 sparkplug out and put it on the sparkplug wire...i put the body of the sparkplug(the threaded part) on the body of the engine and my friend cranked it over and no spark jumped across.

Things im going to check: Ignition Control Module, Ignition Coil and the rotor. I have the 90-93 helms so i know the specs of the resistance and all. is there anything else that i need to check that could be causing the sparkplug not working? did i check it the right way for spark? any information would be helpful

just replaced my ignitor and coil 2weeks ago..... mine drove fine at lunch and then would start again after work...

Make sure you check the rotor is spinning (if not could be timing belt)

btw.... what does it say in helms, how do you check the ignitor and coil, I want to see which one of mine is still good.

DITTO what these two guys said. My ignitor/coil died on me right after I installed my turbo... WTF, horrible timing. I thought I blew something and it took a fricking week and $200 of parts to figure out

Do the obvious - tear apart your distributor. If everything on the way to your coil/ignitor looks good (wires, cap, rotor), then it's likely one or the other. And if one goes out, the other usually isn't far behind. Replace both.

Testing is dumb for these - my Haynes manual gives you multimeter voltages to check them, but then the next paragraph they say that even if those values are good, one/both could still be broken. Mine checked out OK, but I replaced them and wham, ignition.
