Replacing wheel bearing on gen 4 lude
Is replacing wheel bearings as simple as replacing hub assembly on gen 4 (F & R)? I have replaced hub assembly on my Miata, which only took me 30 min to do. I am not sure how Prelude is designed... will both front and rear require simple hub assembly replacement or pressing in of wheel bearing is required? (will require special tool)?
From the way it looks, front ones will require press-in tool?

I am about to do the same on my lude and as far as I understand it is pretty simple...you have to remove the rotor and that is it no press required someone please correct if i am worng (there is a good chance since i hav not done this yet)
if it's just hub assembly, it shouldn't be too difficult to do. From the way Autozone describes, front ones may require press tool.
Autozone has bearing/hub assembly for a lot cheaper for $90 vs. AA's $120-170 for the rear ones. I wonder what the difference is in terms of quality and etc.

This is not the easiest procedure, you have to remove the hub to get to the wheel bearings on car. Had to do it with mine you will need to use a slide hammer conected to the lugs. but you can not give up after a few minutes it could take an hour or more of hammerinng. you may also need to drill out the machine screws on your rotor, but its definately doable. Let me check and see about the press, ill let you know tommorow.
Good luck

I did it on a FIAT spider and I will never do it again. Take it to a shop
The rolling wheels were easy the driving ones were a beeyotch.

Just ordered rear hub assemly from Autozone. Will have to wait for 5 days before I can get one. Anything I need to prepare myself with?
I did mine.. rears, peice of cake. You're just replacing the hub. Pretty easy job.
When I did my front one (I didn't replace the bearing, what I was doing was replacing my fork) i took the suspension off my self (not hard as long as you have a ball joint seperator tool.. or a nice little sledge lol) and took it into the dealership and had them press out, and then press in the bearing. They didnt' charge me as it took less than 3 minutes.
You guys may want to try a similiar approach. Get the forks out and take it to a shop to have them swap the bearings. This should save you some $ in labor, as they'll be doing a 10 minute job instead of also paying for all the extra time it will take for them to get the suspension apart.
NOTE> I have an advanced auto hub on my one rear wheel... seems to be holding up alright after almost 2 years of nice SCCA abuse... but who knows

Buy a Helms and take a look at what all is required to do the job. Front is hard, just take off the front knuckles, take off the rotor. Take the knuckles and new bearing to a machine shop and have them press out the old and press in the new, easiest way. Rears are cake.
What kind of bearing does autozone provide. Is it a Timkin bearing? I would never use autozone parts on my car. They will not warranty the part at all, Id look into buying from Napa, and Autoparts International as a second resort. Just my 2 cents.
