just gave away 2g's
swaped a SOHC VTEC into my accord. after a bunch of tweaking and bending, got the motor to sit good. and much modifacation to brand new DC headers [2] to make one work. the shop says "we will tow your car where ever you want. we are sorry, but we cannot finish your swap." gonna cost me $650 and change just to have the 260K motor put back in. so in return to the topic title, " I just gave two thousand dollars away." this is why i dont go to the CASINO'S.
just that i tried a swap that floped. and now im back where i started. acheived nothing. and spent a lot of cash with no ******* return.
sounds like the shop doesn't know what they're doing... what would you need to "tweak and bend" if i'm assuming correctly u're using an f22a1 motor? Is it an auto to manual conversion?
There's other assumptions i can make but that would all be based on your swapping in an f22a, if u're trying to drop a d16 or something then i can understand.

I don't understand why you even payed them a cent. If the work was not finished and they took 2k from you then turn them into the better business bureau.

only allowed 5 threads a 24 hour piriod. so here it is in its entirety. the car is a 1991 accord 4 door EX 5spd. the motor that i had put in was a 94 accord EX VTEC SOHC. the problem is, is that the shop bit off more then it could chew. they thought it would be a direct fit. and it was a close fit, but not direct. the motor mount on the drivers shock tower to the timing belt area had to be modid, a 94 had to be placed in and then shimmed bout 1.75 inches cause the motor was sitting at an angle on the drivers side. then had to take and cut up a perfectly good down pipe from DC so that it could be lengthend to reach back to the cat. shop claimed that the clutch was smoked, and the flywheel had cracks. I just put the clutch in bout 12g's ago. and yes i know how to drive a stick. but the shop gave up when they got the word from HASPORT saying that they did not offer a conversion harness. makes me think that the shop revolves around HASPORT. so after some bitching and yelling, they re-embursed me $850 and change. and offerd to have the car towed where ever i wanted for free. i considered somewhere like Idaho, for no reason. just pissed at the whole situation. but i found a guy at the local KIA dealership that has done this swap b4. he said to have it towed to his shop here in town. and he will fix all the previous **** ups that the other shop has created. it will cost me another $800. but atleast it will be done!! so all i got out of the other shop was the motor installed in the car, and a NOS system installed and purchessed for the sum of $185. my ex girlfriends are right, "dont know when to stop". the car can never be sold, cause i would never get the satisfaction. so that is my way long detailed explanation.
you should have just swapped the heads instead...shouldn't have cost more than $350 in all for parts...but regardless, if a shop says they can do it and then says they can't afterwards, you should get all your money back and leave them with all the "bent and tweaked" parts that they fucked up...it's a direct bolt in, so i'm not sure where all the ******* bending and all that came from...good luck though, and think about a lawsuit on the shop if you don't get your 2g's back...
I'm with you on this Nick. I don't understand how the shop could not swap in the motor. There is no reason that they would have had to modify the motor mounts or exhaust or probably half the stuff they did for that matter. If I was you (original poster) I would ask to be fully reimbursed and if they don't do that then contact a lawyer.

conversion harness for what? didnt you put in an ODB1 motor? . . . theres no conversion to be made, all you need to do is wire for VTEC, thats like 3 wires . . . honestly

yes it is an OBD1 engine. but the motor harness plugs [ which plug into the body harness] dont even come close to pluging in. the vacume box on the fire wall with two electrical plugs on my 91 must be bypassed. the 94 is all electrical. different map center. the car go's to the new shop on April 11th. and the reason for not doing the head swap is, original motor 260k, new motor 113k. and old engine smoked way bad.
gonna get fixed now. cant wait to have a new motor. the whole thing started with me at the wreaking yard. and a couple of employees told me bout the motor and the price. it was $25 cheaper then buying a distributor! and i needed a new motor anyways. just thought it would be fun to have a little more vroom vroom than the old motor. nothing wild.

If your interested I can give you the # of a guy here in Olympia that could help you out. He's a tech in my shop that does a lot of side jobs and we don't do swaps at the dealership so it's not a conflict of interest. That should be a fairly straight forward swap that as far as I know should be able to use an out of the box header. It sounds like they hosed you and you should be able to get at least most of your money back. I just had to credit a guy $500 towards his head gasket job because my dumbass 22 year "master" tech mis-diagnosed it as a plugged EGR system and a bad intake gasket. It would be very poor business for a small local shop to screw you like that.
i do appreciate the offer, and yes i will take his number. you email me at charliebrkr@yahoo. but she is going into another shop. the shop that she is currently at still has some work to finish up. then they are towing her to the new destination. it is allways helpful to have an extra tech number, for in tym's of emergancy's like this. the shop did re-emburse me some of the cash $850. and they hav'nt over charged for what has been done. all the parts that they ordered have been returned. and the shop paid all return fee's. the reason for me being pissed, is that someone said they could do something, when in return, they did not. so now it go's somewhere else. shoot me the number though.

LOL!
LOL!
once this one is done and running good wich should be around June 10th, have to save up some more scrilla. then im buying another accord preferably a 1990 and doing the 97-2K motor swap. F-20. and once that one is done wich will be around X-MASS. that is when i am going to do the best. but for that i want to find a "right hand drive" my gen accord. i have been looking at a Japan Car Import web address, and have only been able to find a 93 accord. wich is the same body style as the USDM version to our 94-97. cant seem to find the previous gen's yet. but im looking. if i am able to find one, have it sent over. then i'll put a JDM H-22 into a JDM authentic accord.
