d16a1 vs d15
I have built a d16a1 and would like to put it in, I am not sure if it will bolt up to my transmition however. I have (in my car know) the stock transmition and its a d15 16valve non-vtec. in case the motor didnt bolt up I have the transmition that came with the motor. If I have to use that Tranny what do I do about the Crank position sensor? and will the drive shafts meet up?
the d16a1 will NOT bolt into your car without serious modifications..the motor mounts will NOT line up. it will only bolt into 84-87 crx/civic and 86-89 integra. the d16a1 tranny is also different from any other d series. putting a non d16a1 tranny on may be almost impossible.
Sadly, I thought the same thing about all D series mounting up. I bought a d16a1 about 2 weeks ago to swap into my 89 CRX. I come to find that the mounts for the engine DEFINITELY dont work. The mounts from my crx will fit into the bolt holes and soforth, but upsettingly, the mounts wont be able to be bolted in. The mounts hit the cam gears, major pain in the ***. I want to try to salvage the motor if possible. But, I highly doubt i will. ESPECIALLY if the transmission doesnt line up.
heh no tranny to engine is impossible
ive seen a chevette with a turbo charged ford 200cu/i engine with the stock chevette tranny.. sooooo
sometimes it just takes a lil modding
as for your tranny, id suggest using the d16 tranny, as they say.. short gear ratios
