Default Whining noises as the rpm climbs : normal or not? (5th gen)

frist up to second and so on through all the gears as the tach climbs a whining noise is present, is this normal? Its a very distinct sound, but its noticeable. My brother explained it as "sounding like a jet" and I was wondering just what the problem is. Im thinking its just a normal sound from the belts? But Im not exactly sure.

Also another question, could oil be leaking from the bottom of the car due to not changing the washer? If so, where can I purchase a washer that will fit?

THanks for any help.

lets hope you didnt strip part of it..

home depot has a lot of washers. look in the phone book. washers are like 10 cents each..i am sure you can afford those. go to home depot and buy 10 or something. bring your bolt in too.

i have a whining noise when my stereo is on..iono if it is that. see if you sitll ahve the noise with the stereo off.

i have the same thing on my 5th gen. it started after replaceing timing belt and auto tensioner. sounds almost like a quiet supercharger. i have read others experincing the same noise as well with no problems. i've put about 5k on since then still doing it, no problems

go to honda to get the washer for the drain bolt. its not just a normal washer, its softer on one side.

it should be free. the dealership in va beach had a bucket of them, you just took a couple if you needed them

It could be because the transmission is cold...after you drive it longer, does the sound go away?

Lol, thanks guys, the whining sound now is also thought to be sound coming in through the short shifter?? (I dont quite get this theory?) But Ill ask around a bit, thanks.

No the sound does not go away once the car is warm, and no it has nothing to do with my stereo. The timing belt has been changed though, im guessing its that

I had the same problem and I just got it fixed today. It was the auto tentioner (spellcheck). I had the timing belt, tentioner, and the balance belt, changed today and the noise is gone

sounds like who ever did the timming belt put the balance belt on to tight ..its very easy to do cause they just seem to loose when the tensioner it self is tightning the belt ...i had a supercharger for a few days when i did my balance belt lol just need to loosen it a bit

theres a bolt sticking out of the timming cover ...just loosen it like half to 3/4 turn and re tighten ..see if that helps .if not loosen a bit more and try again

Sorry I can't help the main topic, but the stereo whining noise is do to bad grounds on any of the following, cd player, amp, sound processor, altenator, or battery. If all those are fine, check the RCA's (if your using them) to make sure they are connected properly and not touching any bare metal.

My car never started this electronic tone/whine until after my idle was adjusted (it was set too low i guess and the car did the idle dance, 700-1300 all day every day at any stop).. but mechanics adjusted that and gave it back with a whistle. I remember my intake whistling on my old car but this sounds like an electronic whine, really high pitch..almost whistle even

i dont know what the **** it is but that and my heat shield buzzing and something behind my stereo buzzing from when my stereo got stolen are all making my head want to pop
but not as bad as that idle fluxuation lol
