Default ek differences (ex. suspension, weight, etc...)

whats up guys,

I currently own a crx w/ b18a and other random goodies. I want an ek really badly and i know that with crx's there are subtle differences with the car every year( ex. weight, seatbelt mounting, suspension components etc...). What is the ideal ek to get then. I am not worried about cosmetic **** though. I heard that there are suspension changes in around 97? or 98? but would that matter if i was going to swap a type r set up anyway.....

sorry so scattered, i just love the ek, its like being in love with a person that you only glanced at and you want to know everything about....ummmmmm, yea.

i just want an ek thanks guys.

ok

CRX 1988 HF= lightest crx of the 2nd gen's, have type r style lower control arms, etc....

EK 1996-2000= which one is the best to start out with? Whats the lightest one. What model ex, dx....has the most straight forward swap?

I know that there are differences for the CRX's so i guess i am just assuming that there are differences for the EK. I doubt that HONDA made the same exact car for 4 or 5 years and made them all exactly the same.

Maybe its a stupid question but I know with EF's some people can be picky....i wouldnt buy a 90 or a 91 crx....just wondering if people with EK's are the same and if so which one is basically the best platform to start from.

thanks again and sorry i was unclear in my first post.

the frontends change between 96-98 and 99-00.

also 96-98s are OBDIIA and 99-00s are OBDIIB.

You're going to regret getting rid of the CRX . . .

I've owned 'em all.

Suspension is not exactly the same.
92-95 (EG) suspension can be used on a 96-00 (EK), but EK can not be used on the EG.
EG suspension has brake lines attached to the strut, where as the EK does not have brackets for the brake lines..
Also there is a small difference where the strut mounts to the rear lower control arm, but it’s not a big deal.

GOD NO!!!!!!!!!!!

I would never get rid of my CRX, that is my first born child! I am just planning for the future, you know, a new addition to the family. I love my crx, it is my first car i have ever owned and i will keep it no matter what.

Thanks for the concern though

well the CX hatch is gonna be the lightest. Why exactly I don't know, you should go check autotrader.com under search car stats. I'm pretty sure it'll tell you most of that stuff. Then you can draw your own conclusions.

i got a 98 cx, its lighter than the dx because theres no rear wiper, the rear spoiler is made of a dinky little piece of plastic rather than the dx metal one. also theres no ps or ac on any of em, on dxs ps came on some and ac was accessory which mostly everyone got. also cx has no low gas light, which doesnt make a weight difference but its just something else to know. either way, neither cx or dx clusters came with a tach so chances are youd be throwing in a ex cluster which is plug n play, or an si one if you got a swap or something. exs are a different story, they go all power options and sunroof and all this other crap to make it heavier, just get a hatch man, Cx is the way to go, take a few more things off it n u got a 2000lb car. cant wait til autocross this season!

another little bit of info is that the ex came with a front sway bar and the cx and the dx dont not. so tou will have to buy a ST sway bar that is made for cars with out factory front sway bars. or you will have to get EX or SI lower control arms and sway bar. you can also use a teg lower control arms and sway bar. but the sway bar off a teg hangs alittle lower than an ex or si.
