Alright i have a95 gsr and lately when i start the car up the idle bounces around a bit then dies start again same thing, start again and it runs fine... then while driving the tach will bounce around like crazy going from 4000 or 5000 whantever im cruising at down to 0 back up back down ect.... the car sputters and hesitates when it does that.... then all the sudden it will be fine.... there doesn't seem to be any certain rpm or time of day it does this... one of my buddies said he thinks the igniter in the dizzy is going out.. haven't gotten a chance to check it out.... but wanted to get some other opinions see if anyone else has had the same problem and what they did to fix it...

Is this a swap? Have you changed ecu's?
A vacuum leak would be consistent so I am not sure. But the reason I ask about the swap is that I have seen this happen on 2 prelude swaps that I have seen.

How old are your plugs and wires?

 

did you try cleaning the egr?

 

Are you getting a CEL...If so, what code?

Also could it be a loose or bad connection somewhere...possibly an earth? I'm thinking this because of the way the problem is intermittant and also the way the tach is bouncing around. Also check the CKP sensor.

 

noe this isnt a swap just a 95 gsr....

i havent done anything to correct it yet... want to run through al my options first
