when I align my cams to TDC my crank pulley mark does not align (about 2 cm off) and vice versa when I align my crank pulley.
what am i supposed to do when they are off?

Ok..have you actually replaced the belt yet?
Was the car running ok before? If you still have the old belt on, the marks should line up if the car was running properly, if the valve timing is off, it'll run lumpy and be misfiring - basically what I'm saying is that you would know!
If you have already fitted the new belt, take it off and set up the marks again.

did u set it TDC before u took the first belt off? if this is the case, line up the white hash mark on the crank pulley to be in between the two teeth on the plastic cover for the tming belt. then set the cam timing. i hate doing timing, even if its off one tooth it still runs like ***, and u gotta do it all over again.

And make sure when you install the timing belt over the cam gears that you install the belt over the exhaust cam gear FIRST. If you put it over the intake cam gear first, you are probably going to end up 1-2 teeth off.
