Well i got a 92 accord and i just replaced the water pump. when i did this i removed all the belts. when i had everything back together and started the car there was a loud noise coming from the belt side of the engine. when i put the belts back on i lined up the timing marks, but i did it by syself so it was kinda hard to keep the pulleys from spinning.

So today i tore it all back down and checked the belts, one of the pulleys was off by a few teeth (1-3). now i corrected that with help from my dad to keep one pulley still. put everything back together and now theres a sound coming from the center of the motor between 1000-1500 rpms. if i rev it up and get off it will just die out sometimes. ( did it 2 times in a row.). Also when i rev it, there is smoke comin out the exhaust. my sister said it was white.

I hope you didn't bend some valves.

 

the camshaft and crank never changed positition. the ones that was off was the other pulleys that have the smaller belt with teeth.

 

I also changed the oil before i cranked it the first time. I used 10w 30. should I have used another type? also i changed the plugs and wires but on one wire the little rubber boot that covers over the plug came off and stayed on the plug and i cant get that plug out becuse of it. so its got 3 new plugs and 3 new plug wires and 1 old plug and wire. gotta find some way to get the rubber cap off.

well i drove the car today. and there is a real lack of power. it wont rev past 4 grand. theres also a ticking noise when i have the car in gear . (auto) from prolly around 1500 to 2500. but it doesnt do it in neutral.

Sounds like bent valves to me. However, why would you have white smoke from your exhaust? That normally means the head gasket is toast. If it is your valves then I would suggest why not just getting a vtec head and swapping it on.

 

weird thing is, if you push down on the head shield while revving it, it doent make noise. (found this out today).

also i can smell unburnt fuel from the exhaust

 

It could very well be the heat shield.
