Default My prelude is dying..!!!

Ok in the past 3-4 months I've had issues with ym 98 prelude

1) didn't pass smog in Janauary failed the NOX section by about 100-300 in both sections. Cleaned the EGR valve with carb cleaner, had it retested and it failed by 100-200

2) Power door locks and power windows stopped working. I still can't figure what the hell is causing the problem. Checked all fuses connections ect and nothing seems wrong
(actually the power locks on the passenger side work again yay )

3) Driving home from work turning into my neighborhood at around 10 mph, down shifted into 2nd smoothly and the weirdest thing happened a moment later. The car just died. Power steering gone... Lights were dim radio was off. But I gave the car gas and it sounded like it was trying to turn over!!! (the noise sounded like I was trying 10 MPH in 5th gear...)

Anyone have any ideas for my 3 problems???

Does the car crank over ok? It could be the alternator or battery is weak/dead. Check & clean your grounds also.

Take your battery to Pep Boys, or WalMart, or someplace and have it tested to make sure it's not the problem.

yeah I'm with these guys I was having a hard time getting my car started and it was just being wierd, my battery terminals were a bit corroded but I passed it off, I bumped the ground cable putting my hood prop down and the car started acting wierd, I cleaned them, got a nice connection and its been night and day difference.

The battery is only a few months old. The car starts pretty quickly, I don't have to sit there waiting for it to start while it tries to turn over.

I'm thinking this might be a clutch/tranny problem. I guess when I said smoothly I should have said I shifted softly. When I shifted into second and let out the clutch, it just felt really strange. Something wans't right, then it died. I wish I knew more about transmisisons...

EDIT: I just remember something else, when i'm accelerating at a easy pace (not giving it a lot of gas) it feels like the car is surging slightly then being held back by something. ( like if someone was slowly pulling the e-brake and then slowly letting it off)

It's not a huge feeling, or very noticeable but the power is less and not constant

Grounds for starters. Also-depending on age the battery may be seeing its last days. Then again the Alternator may have weak output. You can get a test done at Autozone or Sears to see if the electrical system is OK.
