LS tranny problems - please help.
Well, to say it shortly, my tranny's (00 LS) age (115k miles) has reared its ugly head, or so i think...
here are the symptoms.
1. pops out of 2nd around 3.5k-4k rpm violently from either soft decel or accel (no consistency). it pops out sometimes even if i'm holding it in there
2. funny gear mesh whine in upper gears
3. hard downshifts 3-2, doesnt want to go in
4. excessive notchiness 1-2
5. from dead stops, right when the clutch engages, i can feel the shifter want to get out of gear, like its kicking back at me
odd part is, i do drive spiritedly, but rarely full on gear mashing. i heel-toe and revmatch almost every time i slow down, and none of the gears (including the 1-2 shift, if it doesnt pop out of 2nd gear gate) grind AT ALL.
Obviously its something to do with the synchro's, but the symptoms arent very typical of a "raced" on transmission (i.e. lots of grinding). I'm hoping its not something bigger, like a cracked input shaft, or a loose clutch/flywheel etc. Also, my linkage is straight and everything connected to it is in working order.
Setup: 00 LS with ES torque mount inserts, ACT Streetlite, ACT HDSS installed about 10k back) Prothane linkage bushings, stock shift lever.
