I'm going to visit a friend in Chicago during May and since I usually live in Sweden where aftermarket parts for my ITR are both rare and expensive I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good shops in the Chicago area to get parts such as springs/coilovers, camber kits and 4-1 header?

I'm looking for quality brands rather than cheap parts.

oh, also does anyone know if they would allow me to bring coilovers with me on the flight back home or are there any dangers involved because of the pressure changes?

Take a ride up to King and buy away! With the weak dollar you can get things cheap!

I've carried dampers over to Europe before to sell (from my Lotus) and had no issues.

Depending on where you are in Chicago-land, King is now only about a 45 minute drive north on one our faster highways (not sure if you know, but Chicago has bad traffice....not like L.A. or Boston, but it's pretty bad).

The highway up to King Motorsports is pretty free-flowing. Just make sure you check out their website, find what you want, and pre-order all the stuff before you come out to Chicago. This way, they can have everything you need and want in stock when you go to them to pick it up.

King is probably your best best for high-quality mods. BTW, they sell more than Mugen....so if you're looking for Hondata, Skunk2, AEM, etc. parts, they retail all those as well.

Also, think of your peers. Buy more than you need. Bring it all back and sell stuff to them. Add in a slight "delivery" and "convenience" charge.

Obviously King comes to mind, actually I live north of Chicago and King is closer.

I like working with Dave at the Whip Factory. I don't think they carry much in stock, but he order just about anything you need.

Probably no issues flying with dampers. They're not under much pressure, and FAA likely doesn't care or know any better.

Note that there's a difference between a "tuning shop" that specializes in servicing cars, and a shop that carries an inventory of aftermarket parts.

I'm not familiar with Garage Kwai other than knowing that they service cars - maybe they carry plenty of ITR parts in stock, maybe not, I don't know. But this fellow is looking for a place where he can walk in and buy parts that day. Does Garage Kwai fit the bill?
