Default c-pillar bar as harness bar

i was looking for a cheap way to use a 5-pt harness (for auto-x, not so much for safety as holding me still) a harness bar is appx $300.

so, what do you guys think? bad idea?

http://www.geocities.com/g_wel...ssbar

another idea.

most of those things are nowhere near sturdy enough to be a harness bar.
safety should be your main concern-do you honestly want to sacrifice your safety to have a half-*** harness setup?if you want to run a harness,do it the right way.at the very least get a proper harness bar.i'm sure you've heard the harness/bucket/rollbar or nothing argument.i know-"it's only for autocross".i've seen a few bad accidents in an autocross environment.i know that a rollover is very unlikely,so not having a rollbar can maybe be excused, but you do need to have your harness properly mounted.
have you considered those CG locks that lock your stock seatbelt to better hold you in the seat?
Chris

well what are the options? post some links or pics to the available bars/cages. This is going to be a daily driver, so no full cages. I plan on removing and carpeting over the back seats eventually, and i would like to stay in Street Mod.

Didn't read it, but a C pillar bar is unsafe to mount harnesses too. I suggest you just keep your stock seatbelts and quit being such a stunna.

On that site, look at the 10 point cage. Does anyone know if anyone else makes a cage that doesn't have that diagonal bar that goes across the door panels?

Exactly. Don't use a harness without a roll cage. Especially attached to a c pillar bar. I auto-x without one just fine. Move the seat all the way back lock the belt, and move the seat up a notch (I can do it and I'm almost 6'-2").
