Coolant bursting out of overflow...but not overflowing?!
I'm really stumped here.
When I pull in my garage most of the time, I get out to smoke coming from under the hood, and it's all over the top of the overflow tank.
Then I can hear it like bubbling, like boiling water for a few seconds and then sometimes it relieves the pressure somewhere and lets out a hissing noise.
BUT the overflow tank is completely empty, and there is no like Huge puddle of coolant anywhere, so it can't be overflwoing and dumping it all out...anyone have any ideas?
things I've replaced:
New T-stat
Mugen Rad cap
Rad fan
Car doesn't overheat or anything weird either! no coolant in oil or white smoke from exhaust

It could be one or more of:
1) bad radiator
2) bad head gasket
3) bad hoses
4) bad thermostat
5) when the parts were installed the cooling system was not properly purged of all air.
You need to erectify this problem before you warp your head. I'll put my money on the radiator. If it's OEM they always crack and/or come apart where the plastic butts up against the aluminum.

thanks for the quick response!
I'm going to see if I can find a spare radiator to try. I really hope not because the one in here is some kind of aluminum full length, but it does look kind of beat up. it doesn't overheat or anything since I keep refilling the radiator so hopefully the head will be fine.
up for more ideas!
