Just get a OEM style replacement from: http://radiatorbarn.com . They're about $100 shipped and have a lifetime warranty. I've been running one of these radiators for about 80K miles without any problems.

No difference in radiators from LS, GS, or GSR. And the install is basic bolt on/bolt off.

I was on the same boat as you

What ever you do.. watch out for aluminum radiators - they're tempting

one of the most common radiator myths is that aluminum is always better.. don't get me wrong.. there are some aluminum radiators that are designed for just racing but they also are more susceptible to acid corrosion and need to be beefier to keep the motor cooler. They are a little bit ligher but not much of a difference

Like the other guys said - go with the OEM replacement or something similar with a warranty

yea not to mention u would need slim fans to get em to fit in the teg..

i have a koyo oem replacement.. after my radiator cap blew up prematurely due to the mugen hi pressure oil cap and not upgrading the fan switch & thermostat.. tried to smush the 55mm core all aluminum in the teg.. but it was a no go without fal fans ... tossed on a koyo, mugen fan switch & thermostat since.. problem resolved..

i put a thick all aluminum koyo radiator in my teg and the stock fans dropped right in. the fans even cleared my header.

get the oem one, its the best way to go.....there are no problems with fitment.

yes, the manual and auto radiators are different in that they have those cooling fitting lines.

on my car we would have had have to bend a few lines.. the gap between the fans and the header were smaller than a few sheets of paper... i'm not gonna pull a mickey mouse job on my teg.. might as well do it right the first time around.. keep in mind my teg was still using the stock header and heatshields as this member will probably may or may not be doing..

i also go to hpde's in 100 degree weather.. my koyo oem replacement holds up just fine..

are you suggesting that because i used the thick koyo, that i "pulled a mickey mouse job"? my car runs cooler than almost any 200whp car. everything fits and nothing is "mickey moused". besides, i highly doubt any "mickey mouse" job would last almost 4 years!

no. i'm not saying u pulled a micky mouse on on your car. i'm sorry you took it that way. i never meant it to be directed at you in any way shape or form..

i know nothing of your setup you know nothing of mine.. don't stay upset over a few words you can prove me wrong if you wish.. post a pic of ur setup so the topic poster can see the clearance between the stock fans and your header.. let him decide..

my engine rocks too much during hpde's.. and i'm not going to chance damaging the fans with the questionable clearance... i wouldnt mind if i had a way to tow my car to and from the track but i don't... at that point in time i wasn't looking to take out the a/c and didn't have the extra dough to cash out on slim fans.. situtations are different for each person in different situations..

i will agree with you that the koyo all aluminum does keep the car cooler than most.. hell i've seen this radiator perform for endurance races..

that's why they call it a discussion forum.. i'm not picking a fight.. there are certain ways i like things setup on my car there are certain things you like on your car.. no one's own personal opinion can ever be wrong..

yeah i took it wrong. but the funny thing is man, we have the same exact car! your's being a '98 and mine being a '99. same color and everything. my car is a daily driver and has seen the track as well as quite a bit of nitrous, quite frequently. the koyo i installed uses all factory mounting hardware. it was a direct bolt in! there is not much clearance between the fans and the header, but i've never had any problems.

Is it an OEM replacement all aluminum? If it is and it fits just as you say it does - that would be a good way to go to keep it cool.. Do you mind me asking where you got it and if you installed it yourself (if you did was there any problems)

And is it worth it going koyo?.. i live in central florida and i'd like to keep my car as cool as possible.. any help would be appreciated

I would bring in a few suggestions to your replacement plan:
If you were going to go turbo, Id buy a half size radiator now. If your just need to replace it buy one that offers a lifetime warranty. You cant go wrong there!

no, it was not the OEM one. it is the 2" thick one. looks just like the fluidine one. i did install it myself and it was pretty damn easy. i purchased it 3 years ago from XS Engineering. it was pretty damn pricy...$430.00.
