High Compression Turbo App
I was just doing some research....this guy stated that high compression turbo applications allow the turbo to spool up much faster - this seemed bogus to me, but i wanted some opinions. I was told to do a low compression application.
(I believe) a higher comression ratio would actually yeild SLIGHTLY faster spool up time, but I don't think it would change anything drastically. Rather, it would be MORE depent on the turbo charactaristics, size, ar, options (ball bearing, ect) that will have the most effect on spool up times...
Many people will RECOMMEND that you do a low comp build... most don't know why though, it's usually just something they've heard.
With higher compression ratios, you are dealing with more pressure, more heat, though, and with that comes a higher chance that you will suffer from effects of detonation sooner. What it really comes down to more than how you build, is how you TUNE and MAINTAIN to give maximum gains and reliability.
my .02? hope it's worth something!
