Default shift at redline or 7200?

sup.
when i punch my car i always red line it and shift around 7900-8000 in each gear. my friend was telling me to shift at 7000 because the transmission is forced to engage gears at high rpms like 8000. is this right? im running a b16a2 w/ bolt ons, stock internals. am i driving wrong or is my friend bullshitting?

im currently launching at 3500. my tires spin a little bit, but not too much.

hopefully ill take my car to the track this friday and really find out wats a good launch point.

thanks

A dyno test will give you an optimal RPM where you torque peaks, that's where shifting is the best..

Though not a very good way to so, shift where you 'feel' you're losing top end power...

assuming you have a b16 tranny--rev that b1tch out--if you shift too soon the rpms will probably drop out of vtec

ur torque peaks at 7k and ur hp supposed to at 7,6k so go to something like 8,2k for mine it pulls all the way tell i shift.but that's me if u shift before 8k ur mph will most likely be lower.

it also matters what u have done to it...if u just have intake and exhaust or something missing sometimes it changes ur power curve for when u shift...
