Default problem with breaking axles in CRX with ZC swap

I have a 91 CRX SI with a ZC motor and tranny in it. I just put new axles in it (axles for a 90 integra). However i have now broken 2 left axles. It happenes when i turn the wheel hard left and then bang they break. Seems like they might be too short? They are stock replacement axles for a 90 integra. Does anyone have any idea as to why the left axle keeps breaking on me? The car is lowered almost to the ground. Could this be the problem?

the half shaft is supposed to be the right one for the ZC. The bolt holes lined up with the block.

I just called the place i got the motor/tranny from and they said that its doing that because my car is too low. Does that sound right?

Well you say your car is to the ground which will accentuate any problems with the axles due to the extreme angle created by being that low. Raise the car up a bit and see if it helps.

or if you want to keep the stance as it is, i believe there is a kit for mounting your engine/tranny higher to even out the angle a little, but i would just raise it a little bit.Damn, how do you get in the bastard???

your car is too low , the axles will sit at a angle , just look at your drivers side and you can see how angled it is , and do you experience wobbling? thats another sign that your car is too low .

i think thats mostly a horsepower deal.If you have more hp than is specified for those axles, maybe. but if you run the stock setup, there should be no problem. The problem kicks in when you are trying to turn the axles real fast and at an extreme angle to the tranny. Try this.Shut your arm in your car door and slam it. then try to play violin with that hand. get the idea?

i think u got sumtin that bent and making it even worse the ball joints are under tons more stress than the axels and they do have quite a bit of play in them i guess ur getting some cheap axels i had 3 in a row that all bound up from the store the axels have almost 90 degrees of usable movement my hatch is 2.5" down and the axles arent even parallel with the ground yet i got like inch and a half more before there even prallel

I've got my CRX with DOHC ZC and ZC tranny lowered to 2 inches. the axles are slightly angled up but not by much I think thats a good height. Now if I can just get some 15s instead of those damn 17s.

Bad motor mounts can also cause axles to break.
