Default Whats a good price for a 92-95 Civic hatchback?

I have found a few 95's with under 85,000 miles. They are in great condition both inside and out...interiors are awesome, paint is awesome, one of them has a few dings and some scrapes on the front and rear bumpers, but still looks clean.

One has service records, the other doesnt, but has orginal window sticker in the glove box.

Asking prices are $4500 for the one with service records. $3800 for the other one. Both are white.

In retrospect, I have found a few EG's at these hole in the wall lots that are in nasty condition (95 with 110K, paint is ruff, needs brakes, a/c messed up) and they want $4500.....and another one with no radio, custom leather seats, been re-painted, needs rotors and brakes, has lots of squeaks, gears grind...and they want $4600....Geez....but these are buy here, pay here lots so if that tells u anything.

Im really thinking about the first 2.

I found my little CX for $500.00 after selling some of the stuff out of it

Just buy a damn CX, VX, or DX T.J!!! You can find those all day for $1,800-$2,000 with super-high miles and then drop an LS motor in it and still be well under the $4,000 mark. Yes, blah blah "It's my Beater" - whatever, fine. An LS swap in any of the lighter models will be a very nice beater, and cheaper than most of the Si hatches you'll come across.

You don't have to take my word for it though - it's not like I haven't owned 3 of the EGs or anything

I paid $3k for my '92 CX almost 2 yrs ago. It had 112k miles and ran very good. I went and yanked out the lethargic (sp) 1.5L and dropped a B18C1 on April 21, 2001. I *still* can't get the grin off my face from the first time I drove my hybrid.

Expect to pay around $1500-$3000 for any decent NON-Si '92-'95 hb today.

Damn those are some cheap prices. In my area the cheapest I have seen is around $3500. You usually see them for $5-7k, the last three I've seen anyway.

Damn where are you guys finding EG's for so cheap? Are the cars that people are finding for like 1-2 thousand have clean titles or salvaged titles? Ive been looking around for one for quite sometime now. Anyone know where I can find a cheap one in the so cal area? The cheapest I ever found one for was like $3000 nothing less. Also, to the Arizona people, I came across someones ad on the partstrader about a Type R engine for sale that came out of an EG. I am trying to contact that person but I have come up with nothing through emails. Does anyone know who that person may be and how I may contact him?

.....I'd say look at the ~$2500 range from a private owner.

run the vin on http://www.carfax.com to make sure you aren't getting a salvage/ crashed/ lemon.....

I got my CX for $1800.00

120k miles, 1992, red on black.. cold *** A/C

Owner was moving to the Dominican Republic and he was asking $2500.00
I told him all I have is $1800.00 right now, and I'll have the full amount next week..
He told me, "I am moving in two days. Bring me $1800.00 tonight and the car is yours."

Needless to say, I drove 2 hrs. to Boca Raton that night and picked it up.

Huh? You're in the same area I'm in. Check the Auto Trader and the Auto Trader website too. That's where I found my dream CX:0

Tom: ive been checking the AJC and autotrader for 2 weeks now...Most of them are already sold...at the asking price and the others ive test driven. Ive test driven 4 of them so far...All of them have need lots of work ...especailly if its something im going to be driving, i know its a beater, but i want to be comfortable in it.......hell one I looked at didnt even have a radio and was a complete re-paint and they wanted $4500.

I will keep looking....but i dont plan on buying a wrecked/needs lots of work/ $1500 hatchback and turn around and buy new body panels and have them painted only for it to not match the other already faded paint...screw that...ill pay a bit more for a clean car that needs nothing or not much so i can ride to work and home...
