How do I get this off?
I have the 1st gen b16 in my hatch with the y1 tranny and I ran into a little problem. I installed the act clucth and after it was in there for two months something broke, so I had to have the car towed home and I just got the motor out last night and took the tranny off tonight. When I got in there I found out that the spring that connects to the throw out bearing broke. The little prong on the left side that connects to the throw out bearing broke, but the one on the ride side was still fine. I looked at it a little tonight and didn't see how I am supposed to get that spring out of there so I can put a new one in. I was wondering if anyone has replaced this spring before or if anyone at least knows how I am supposed to get that thing out. Thanks.
take the 12mm bolt and slide it out from the thing (sorry dont know what to call it)but that holds it in place. from there you should be able to take it out. my dx tranny spring broke too a few months back and it was a b|tch pulling the tranny in and out of the motor.
Thanks. After I posted this I started think and kinda thought how I could get it out and it turned out what I was thinking is what you said. Hopefully when I go out there tomorrow it works nice and easy for me. Yeah, I made the mistake the first time when I took the tranny off to put the clutch in by pulling it out with the motor in the car. It is so much easier to just take the motor out and work from there. I figured someone on here had the same problem I did. Thanks again.
