since we got this taken care of, i do have a question about the MR.. my cousins gsr isn't throwing any codes but his MR light is on. we've kind of came to the conclusion that its his gas cap. could his gas cap be causing it to throw the MR??? (not trying to steal the thread)

like they said before, it comes on at certain milages, as long as his car isnt acting up, just reset it like you did yours
If your CEL comes on you have something to worry about and look into,
Not your Maint. Req. light, as stated its just a reminder of oil changes and the like.

see that panel you have....it's actually mounted on the back of that panel...so you have to reach your hand underneath and hook it back....or just get on ur back on the floor and you should see a little blue button
This is not complicated.
You DON'T have to be looking at it, so you DON'T have to worry what color it is. And you DON'T have to bend down to find it.
Just sit in the driver's seat, and reach down directly underneath the ignition key. Feel around behind the bottom edge of the panel for a square plastic piece. The button is in the center of that piece. Hold it down while starting the car and the light, instead of flashing, will stay on for a couple of seconds (constantly), and then go out.

Mine is green too. And it's very easy to find, it's behind the plastic, it's not visible while sitting upright. Thanks a lot, I got mine off now.
But Now i have questions. Does the MR light only come on when your car should need to be checked out or does it go off when a sensor says something is wrong?

It goes off about every 7500 miles.
