Default Brake Install Problem [IAR]

I recently purchased some Hawks HPS brake pads and finally installed them today (my first time doing it myself). After depressing the brakes and installing my rims, I lowerd my car. I went into my car and pulled my e-brake after and started tightening my rims. But the more I tightened, the more the car moved. Like as I am tightening, the car is moving foward or backwards even though the e-brakes are on. What did I do wrong?

Did you hit the brakes with the E-brake off and then try to set the E-brake? The rear self-adjusts when you hit the brakes.

Did you have excess clearance when you turned the rear pistons? Also, did you make sure that the brake pad pins were in the piston grooves? I can scan the 1996 FSM if you need me to. The brakes should be similar.

Turn over the engine, press the brakes a few times (remember to top up the brake reservoir) with the ebrake off. You should feell the brake pedal firm up after about 5 taps on it. You can then turn off the car, engage the ebrake and all should be fine.

did u bleed the fluid in the caliper, or let it go back up to the abs solenoid? i have seen cars not work well after brake jobs due to the fact of the piston just being pushed back in instead of bleeding out the dirty fluid in the caliper

glad its working for you
