these tires are not meant to be put on a luxury car.
they are tires made to grip. its the same concept with azenis. you want tires to grip. it's a tradeoff.

Does anyone else think the tread looks very similar to the Hankook RS-2's??

Noise comes in two varieties... [1] noise generated by the tread pattern [2] "booming" noise generated by the carcass of the tire.
You can tune a tread pattern to reduce noise without changing how a tire will grip. The "trade off" is a matter of how much $$ you wanna spend to develop a tire, and what type of technology and tools you have access to in the design phase.
This is what makes one tire more $$ than another...the engineering that went into it that you can't see. You get what you pay for!!!

This tire was has been out for a while now, more then a few years IIRC. and this noise from these tires is number 1. personally it wasn't a big deal to me, i didn't pay for the tires and they griped fine. However just like azenis (and 99% of all street tires) they can handle alot of heat, and when they get TOO hot they start to chunk.

the tire is designed to grip, and its somewhat cheap, so what does that mean? you it comes with NO mileage warranty and with a low tread wear rating, i would expect to see much.
I put 2 miles on mine, and then the tire started to junk so i took them off, and let a freind use them for a week unill his new tires came in. he threw them away after that

youve got me worried as i was led to beleive they last a hell of a long time. friend has set who did a track day and they showed minimal wear
i went to the track a few times with mine, i did notice they definitely wear out quick once they are heated up, but, at the expense of excellent grip. Its kinda a trade off if you look at it realisticly. you want tires that are going to grip well, e.g. BFG Drag radials, they are going to wear out fast because of the soft compound. If you want something that will last a long time, get a harder compound. unfortunately most dont grip as well and get slippery when warmed up
This tire is new to the United States market, and is replacing the AVS Sport as the highest-performance street tire in Yokohama's lineup. So far, it's only available here in 17" and 18" sizes (other than an odd 16" size specifically for Lotus).
The Tire Rack tested the AD07 side by side against the Kumho MX and the BFG g-force T/A KD, and the AD07 came out on top. You can read the test here.

Actually, this tire is not cheap at all; it's quite expensive...

Can you post a picture of the set you had, I think I saw you had a set of the AD06's in a picture I saw before.

Aside from the Lotus size, the AD07 starts at $172 per tire and goes up to $363 per tire, at the Tire Rack. Most sizes are similar in price to the Bridgestone S-03, which is generally considered among the more expensive top-of-the-line high-performance street tires (e.g. more expensive than the Kumho MX and Goodyear F1 GS-D3, less expensive as the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2).

How many miles did you put on them? How does the tread look now? Thanks!
