Default Causes of wheel hop?!?!?!

Ok...well me and my buddy decided to run our cars last night. We have similar setups..him-95 Ex w/ minor bolt ons, and me- 94 Dx w/ short ram intake. So we get out on a long straight highway at about 1:00 am, we went cruised the highway first to look for any unwanted on-lookers, so I we get next to each other, I am holding my revs steady at 4000 and he said he was at about 3500 when we ended the race, so we both launch, I have some minor wheel hop, but he has some major wheel hop, I mean I could hear it pretty bad. My question is what causes wheel hop and what is the solution to fixing it. I know there are probably multiple causes/solutions to this problem, but I wanted to get anyone and everyone's opinion/experences with wheel hop and what they did to fix it. But here is an even weirder problem, this is the second time he has dragged his car, and both times he launched, he blows the fuse to his corners/tails/instrument lights....what could be the cause of this?? Any and all comments are welcome

Oh and on a side note, he beat me by half a car

Wheel hop + blown fuse = probably loose wire.

you dumping the clutch at 3500 rpm next time try to feather the clutch whell hop can break your axles too. just practice your launches and youll get it down.

stiffer mounts and traction bar will help reduce it

Actually some guy posted up on here a few months ago and had pictures of his motor from wheel hop: It snapped the mounting point for the engine mount clean off the block.

im guessin both of u were both at max psi and dumping it at 4k, that will definately give u wheel hop. try revving it to like 6k and slipping the clutch and stop street racing

stiffer motor mounts or motor mount inserts will cure it

**replaced mine last weekend and the drivers side front was shot**

My EP wheel hopped BAD. I picked up some motor mount inserts for just under $30 and it almost totally got rid of the hop.

Check your mounts. There was one in front of my tranny where the screws seemed to work themselves out and that caused wheel hop on my car. We replaced it to the best of our ability and I felt a pretty noticeable difference and a loss of wheel hop.

Hasport gonna have the best in my opinion, if you have the cheese. True, practice makes perfect, or at least a better launch, lol.

I can not buy stuf from that fancy companies that you are all talking about so i just hawe to improvise. I find a guy that is working withy rubber and give him my original mount. He burned the rubber and put the new in a litle bit harder than original and the car runs great. I changed only the main mount a already reduced wheel hop drasticly.

Take from a mod on another site:

wheel hop is not caused by motor mounts. what happens is your tires pull your LCA's forward at take off, then they snap back during low traction situations causing the tire to "skip"

Torque mount inserts and an LCON traction bar got rid of my wheel hop.
