If the Alternator Belt or AC belt is too tight, would it squeak? right now my car is squeaking when i start it up. How much deflection should each of the belt have?

 

what i did was just tightened it to the point where i can still move the belt with my finger. i did the mistake of super-tightening it and it broke

 

normally when it sqeaks it means its to loose, you want it tight to the point where you can push down on the belt between the 2 pulleys about a 1/4 to a 1/2 in and it should be good it thats the way it is just spray alittle bit of belt dressing on there and it will take the sqeak away.
