need help in deciding.......
my #3 main bearing is **** and almost spun in the block
the crank can be saved it will have to be 010 undersized on the mains.
and as far as the rods they are good
what all do i need from the following and will there be any cons in doing any of the following:
re deck the block .010 or .015 to raise compresion.
rod bolts cant go wrong with a new set plus resizing of the rod and balancing
get the rotating assembley balanced.
chafering and knife edge the crank (don't think i want it knife edged, maybe just micropolished and balanced if it needs it)
and for the head...
mill .030 off the head also to rase the compresion.
port the intake ports, and polish the exhaust ports.
polishing the combution chamber,
5 angle valve job
micro polish cam surfaces.
i'm thinking of just a mild port n polish job, not sure, but what is listed above is what can be done.
motor is a jdm gsr motor. of course the rod and main bearing will all get replaced along with a new set of rings.
i was thinking of just getting the new rod and main bearing installed, getting the crank micropolished and balanced if needed, putting in some usdm b16 pistons along with new piston rings. this is all with not doing any of the things above.
can anyone help me decide on this?

Sounds like a pretty good plan, I would not deck the block though. If you want higher compression, get some different pistons. P30 or P73.
Definately get new bearings and make sure theyre the right size.
Definately get the head done, but I wouldnt attempt it yourself unless youve ported a couple and know what youre doing...
If your gonna rebuild it, do it right the first time. Consider the expenses before you jump into it though.
I would balance everything, line bore, deck the block very slightly like 2 or 3 thousandths.Just enough to clean it up.new bearings toothroughout,

from what i've been reading, i'm thinking of not re decking the block or milling the head. i thoght that would throw your timing off, from what i've read. also read that if the head ever gets warpped for whatever reason and the head has been milled already, i will need a new head. so i'm thinking if i don't need the head milled or the block re deck, i won't get it.
motor is a jdm gsr motor and with some b16 pistons, it should get me 11.4:1 compression from a compression calculator i used. i will get the head work done. i only have a CTR intake cam for the time being.
from what i've gathered, milling the head will raise the compression more. i want to stick to 11.4-11.7:1 compression.
