f22a1 vs h23a
I have a 92 Prelude Si with a stock h23a engine in it. It appears that one piston isn't firing and it looks to be a broken rod/piston. I was wondering if I could just get an F22 short block from an Accord and bolt the H23 DOHC head on to it? The reason for this is that F22 blocks are really cheap and the H costs about double the amount.
I'm not really concerned about performance so I guess the whole long block swap could be an alternative. In any case I'd like to know the above. Thanks..

So i read all that stuff over. Honestly it seems like more trouble than its worth for this non performance car. Its an auto BTW. Maybe I'll just try to find a cheap SOHC f22.
I had a Prelude SI, which the previous owner had put an F22 in.
The F22 had bent valves.
I swapped the H23 head DIRECTLY to the F22 block. NO modification of the headgasket required. Only difference was the oil pressure switch, knock sensor, and some coolant sensor. I THINK my car had an F22 ECU, because it didn't throw a CEL, nor did it have a knock sensor.

Any chance you know what year the f22 was from? Which head gasket did you use the H23 or the F22?
Thanks

all f22s reguardless off the year share the same deck surface pattern and head bolt pattern.
edit:
you would use the f23 head gasket , and then slap on the h23 head. the h series heads have a 87mm bore so you would want the headgasket to sit outside of the head bore. the f23 head gasket bore is a at 67mm perfect for the head (1mm bore over the stock 86mm bore of the f23)
greyout did you do this f22+h23 thing before i started my f22 thread a year back?
