Default newer car don't respond to bolt-on very good?

Is is true that some newer car don't respond to bolt-on very good? Instead of gaining hp, you actually lose it because of putting bolt-on such as exhaust, intake, ect...?

no. it would depend on the car and the bolt on. eg. if you put an exhaust thats too free flowing you will not have enough backpressure and could loose preformance, pretty much tho, the answer is no. the age fo the car has nothgint o do with how it responds to modification.

what kind of mods? i could believe certain mods not doing a single thing on a newer car.

i duct tape a huge curb side garbage container on my civics roof. I cut out the bottom and re-routed the air flow to my intake.

I put it on the dyno and only gained 3hp
