Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's on to Sears I go for a Lightweight Battery...
The only problem is, I don't know which one to go with.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'm just lookin' to reduce some more weight without dropping $300 for a Spoon battery.
Help!!!

Don't eat pizza for a few weeks.
The difference in weight between the Spoon and the stock battery is just over 6 lbs. Unless your second name is Kleinubing, I think I would try to find other things to worry about.

I just installed my Dyna-Batt from Performance Distributors about 2 weeks ago. It weighs 13.5 pounds, 12volt at 16 amp hours. $155.00 My stock ITR battery weighed 28pds on my certified bathroom scale. It is very swimilar to the Spoon battery in size/weight and output. 7"x3"x6.5"

D00dz. Weight savings is...weight savings! Any reduced weight the better, and maybe his old battery p00p00ed out on him. So then why not replace it with one that's lighter when he's gonna do it anyway?
Do a search too, I remember someone was suggesting lawnmower batteries are a good lightweight option a couple of weeks back. They were supposed to work fine.
I heard Odyssey batteries were light and cheap... supposedly 8 lbs lighter than a stock ITR battery. If you need a battery anyways why not save a little wieght in the process.

Does Performance Distributers have a website or phone number where I could reach them? Does anyone else carry this battery.
I left my battery in the stock location becaus I figured by the time I installed the battery in the back of the car, running all of the cable and fabricating a new hold down I would gain back some of the weight I just paid to rid.

Can a lawnmower battery provide enough power to crank a car in winter?
Remember, this ain't your daddy's Die-Hard.

The new, recently installed Dyna-Batt 12 V has died. The culprit is believed to be the Viper Alarm that drains the battery while the car's engine isn't running.
Race cars generally don't have alarams and radios....so just be sure what you get into. The Dyna-Batt has just 1/3 of the reserve capacity of a typical battery, but it still provides the same CCA.
Just some info....

I was told flat-out by Perfromance Distributors "not to use the battery without a charging source" ie: don't wash your car and listen to the radio with out it running, it will die.

Thanks for the info guys.
I researched the battery issue last summer when my stock battery died. I got a new OEM battery. It was the best value by far and doesn't weigh much either. At most with a lightweight battery, you may save 15 lbs, but you won't have piece of mind that it will always start. Don't waste your time with anything else but a stock replacement. Money can be better spent elsewhere.
