whats wrong with my ignition?
I have a CRX (89 HF w/B16) and the ignition is acting up! My car was idling fine, when all of a sudden the damn motor shuts off! i tried to start it up and it would crank and sounded good untill i let go of third position on the ignition lock, it would cut out. I then tried to start it and held the key in the third position....it ran fine untill i let go. We then turned the key to first position (ignition on) and push started the car, it ran fine.... no problems....i replaced the ignition cylinder and it still wont stay on when i let go of third position! What could be wrong??
Ignition Starter Switch. $78 at local auto parts store. May need to be ordered. Takes 10 minutes to replace. Remove plastic above and below steering wheel column 3 screws underneath. Couple of tiny bolts (hex head screws?) holdthe ignition starter switch in place. Follow wires from switch. Unplug a couple of wire harnesses, plug the new one in bolt it back on start it up.
Here's a picture of what you need.

is this the part that gets connected together when hot wiring a car?? i hope you realize that im not a theif, just a curious person. if i were a thief i would not post on a public board. if your paranoid you can pm me the answer.
That's a component I had to fix in the dead cold of winter in a Honda parking lot in the middle of winter to get my fans for my heater going again. The new "donut" has much better connection points than what the originals had. And yeah, a very easy fix. I suggest having a friend around to re-assemble the steering column shroud, it can be tricky to hold and re-screw togther.
OH yeah, and don't buy this part used from a wrecker, it'll be an old style and will most likely crap out on you again anyways (plus they charge like $10 less than a new one)
