Default MAJOR probllem/ HELP!

Last night when I was driving my crx, i was at a stop sign, and when i put it in 1st and start rolling all of a sudden i hear this loud *** thud, and my car dies, i restart the car, and put it in 1st but when i let the clutch out nothing happens, the clutch isn't engaging. I dunno if i burnt the clutch up because I didn't smell anything. What could have happened?

P.S- Earlier that day the car was driving fine

If you can put it in first (or any gear) with the clutch pedal depressed while the engine is running, the clutch cable is not broken. If it was, the clutch would be engaged and you wouldn't be able to put the transmission in gear without major grinding.

I would check the half shafts. Maybe you broke a CV joint. Or maybe the clutch disk/pressure plate is mucked up.

With the engine running, I can push the clutch in, put the shifter in 1st, and release the clutch, and nothing happens, the car will still roll freely like the clutch isn't engaged at all, those are pretty much the major symptoms, and how I can sum it up mostly. I haven't tried shifting it with the engine running without using the clutch pedal, I didnt think about it at the time.

well its not just a clutch cable. does the clutch pedal feel like there is any pressure on it at all? if you can let it out in first and the car still idles and your not moving, then there is no mechanical connection somewhere between the flywheel and the throw-out bearing. i hope you know how to turn a wrench

sounds like its internal to the transmission. Best to open it up and see.
Maybe you split the fly wheel in half LOL I can't see the motor even starting if you did that though.

Yes I do know how to turn a wrench. I already had it towed to a shop to have em check it out, I don't know hardly anything about clutches and transmissions, not my area of knowledge. I'll see what they say and hope it's nothing to serious, but all my prayers will probably be for nothing lol. As far as I can remember, when I pushed the clutch in that night, I didn't feel anything different in the pedal, it was just when I let the pedal out the car was rolling like it wasn't in gear or clutch wasn't engaging. Im stumped.

What about your shift linkage? Is it still attached to the tranny?
