accord's auto tranny sucks!!!
is it me or is the automatic transmission on the accords crap? i'm being particular about my mom's 02 accord ex. the thing is not smooth at all, it's rather jerky as a matter of fact. sometimes it takes a while to grab when you're slowing down at a stop sign and start going again. i expected a whole lot more from a honda accord, these cars are supposed to be better than the rest. i hate to say i'm very disappointed about the performance of the transmission. i know honda's manual trannies are among the best out there, but i definately can't say the same about the automatic. is this a problem or is normal??
Honda and Mazda autos are the roughest shifting. Thats what I like about them. It shifts hard, but fast. Plus, you gotta know how to control your foot to keep the jerking down. You want smooth, get a Crown Victoria.
i've driven cars where i dont' have to know how to control my foot to keep the jerking down. you shouldn't have to do that. thank god my lude's 5 speed.

The Accord tranny is like that to save gas, to bad eh! The only way to get it to downshift after slowing down is to either come to a complete stop or floor it and manual downshift which can be bad. I have a 98 auto and I hate the way it shifts, I wonder if a level 10 tranny kit would help?
i drove a gsr...never a prelude, the gears shift really smooth and crisp. i hear integras got the best gearing... i dunno about preludes... but o wellz, i got an accord

The level ten tranny will definitly help, but it is pricey.
To the original poster of this topic.... try changing the tranny fluid very often, using the genuine Honda auto tranny fluid. It will make quite a difference after two or three changes.

Does anybody actually have a torque converter upgrade? Or know anybody that did it. Autos really suck at the take-off, as many of you know. Does it help at all at "take-off"?
how often should you change the tranny fluid in a 5-speed...i dont think its ever been changed but i could be wrong...my car has about 108000 and its a 94...and about how much does it cost?
they're not that bad, i know for a fact that they're one of the most quickest shifting auto's out there, hence the jerking. when my auto changes gears there is no delay, but it does jerk a little bit especiallywhen its cold.
