Default Option2 test on _Hot Earth_ grounding wires... (TypeOne "earthing" system related)

So, Spikey made a claim in https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=116452 thread that grouding makes some noticeable gains. Well, see for yourself as to if it's worth it. The graph shows ~2ps increase in some areas of the powerbands for an FC RX-7. But then again, the gain is due to putting in a fresh set of grouding wire/s. <shrug>

you can get a 2ps (1.98hp) difference without doing anything to the car. Let it cool a little more, etc. The dyno results here don't mean anything IMO.

One dyno isn't going to prove much. Consistent numbers though...

Yeah, I agree. I am just sharing the article since I remembered seeing it in the Option2 mag (aug. 2001). People can make a choice to whatever they want to do.

If your *** dyno can tell the 2whps difference, you are definitely lying to yourself!!

The theory behind ground wire is very good, but just like spark plug, you will only see the gain if the stock one is worn out or bad. A change from thicker to thinner engine oil can caused more than 2whps differences too.

I'm pretty sure there are some very sensitive asses on this board.

Thanks for posting this

Like you said, whether or not it's worth it is up to the individual.

Note the price is approximately 18000yen. With today's favorable exchange rate, that works out to 133USD.

I think the Type One is 99 bucks or something. Let's just say that it achieves the same effect, around 2ps gain here and there, and no loss (unlike an airflow mod). Well, how much do most guys here pay for their intakes and exhausts? Most of which gain 5-7ps only...

Point being, if we are getting into cost effectiveness debates here, a lot of us should do some serious soul searching.

Well, this is not a very scientific approach. It's more like religion.

not sure how many can actually read this article but 95% of it says what the "earthing system" is supposed to do and how it accomplishes it. But the actual review came down to two sentences:
"There were no big power difference (that's an understatement) w/ or w/o it. But it felt like there was a difference."

In the caption at the bottom of pg 233, the d00d says, "not much in high rpm, but low rpm response is improved. Esp in the 2K~3K rpm, the increased reponse made it feel like a different car. This should help around town and in coming out of slow corners at the track. Just like the rumors, this system has changed the characteristics of the car."

yoshi - whose still not convinced...

I think we should start a "great grounding wires test". Let us all (I mean ALL) put some extra wires (no need to buy expensive ones, $5 should be enough) on our cars and tell each other the findings. We should make this clear once and for all!!!

A friend read the Japanese article and had this to say.

"I read the Japanese article. In typical Japanese form, it was a say nothing article. In fact the main title was a question rather than a statement or product review. What is even more strange to me is the price, 17,800 + yen for a set of cables. The 17,800 yen depending on the market transfers to about $130 (today). "

So what has the article proven, other than someone has looked at the cables?
