Default Is the accords engine bay big enough...

To hold a K24? Looking at the body style of the 96 (Not sure what gen, I wanna say 5th?)

I've looked it over, and not sure if it'd be big enough for my apsiring project, a turbo K24 in an accord. Anyone know if it is? any help would be appreciated.

The real question is...

Are you making your own mounts for it?

They'll be custom fabricated--Well, if I can find a kit to mount a K20, I'll just modify them as needed (I believe theres one out?)..though, if need be, I'll have them custom fabricated. I'm expecting this project to run me close to 9 grand for the swap alone. Just worreid about the engine bay being big enough to fit the K24 in there.

if u ahve the money for this whole project, just sell the accord and buy another car with a bigger engine bay, and to my knowledge there are NO mounts for the k series into the accord

Place Racing is working on a mount kit right now for the k24 to be swapped into the 5th and 6th gen accords. Pending interest and time it could be out the middle to the end of this summer.

Really now? just may have to wait for that, as it won't be til the end of this summer that I've got the cash to do the actual swap (I should have the motor and car by then--though finding a 4 door 5 speed accord with black interior is difficult)..

Well, if its possible--I want to do the accord, as I've always been a fan of accords and they just don't get enough love if you ask me...and for the money issue: Its going to be an ongoing project. Working on breaking 11's daily driven in a honda sedan. All my spare money will go towards the project. After bills, food, lil in savings, its all going to the project. I hope to have it completed by this time next year.

Good luck, let us know when it's done. Even regular updates would be cool.

An 11 second accord will need, from what I've read, at least 500hp or more depending on trim etc. This is from other similar 1/4 mile time accords.

do any 5gens come with a black interior?

-as far as the motor fitting in the engine bay, im almost positive it will, as there are numerous k series motors swapped in ef's, eg's etc. which are smaller than an accord bay.

Well, may have to get some custom pieces made for the interior then..and 500hp? Wow, may end up being faster then--Was going to shoot for bout 650hp.

plan on spending 15k ATLEAST! you do the math, k20 swap, motor build, turbo setup and fuel system to support 650. that would be 15k right there. not including all the fab work and such.

Good luck

650 hp in a front wheel drive car is a waste of about 200 hp.....

to whomever said it, you dont need 500 hp to make a 5tyh gen run 11's.....2point6's (is that his name?) car is a 4th gen, NA h22 les than 300whp, and it runs in the 12's daily driven....and thats without ITBs.....

i cant remember ever hearing about a 650whp street legal drivable honda...let alone accord, so be reasonable with your power goals...but this looks like a killer project

DLB1994 ran low 11's with about 450whp on slicks so no need to try for 650 if you wanna run 11's.

Yes there was definitely black leather for the 5th gen

this swap = totally not worthwhile at all, you could build a turbo h22 or a turbo f22b DOHC that would be easier daily drivers, easier and less expensive swaps, and the k24 hes most likley going to come across only puts out 160 hp. if hes worried about gear ratios, the the M2Y4 (im pretty sure thats the code for the JDM LSD tranny could be the M2B4 tho) is a good enough transmission for the swap. i really dont understand everyones preoccupation with k-series swaps into older accords

P.S. if theyre creating a swap kit for the 5th gen accord, the 4th gen would work too

dont mean to bash anyones dreams or anything. but this is illogical. first off the car is FWD, much better suited for tracks, auto x, etc. then the strip. second for the money you would spend on this project you could buy a REAL sports car. If your trying to push out 650whp or even 500 for that matter you can count on it not being reliable, and dont plan on getting too much traction.

if your plan is to have a super powerful 4 or 6 banger thats functional, i highly suggest you atleast look at something thats RWD.

with an upgraded LSD he might be able to get traction in second, but most cars with hp numbers like that cant get traction . . . if he can run big enough slicks, and if he gets an LSD he cant over power, he should be fine in that department, but yea, i dub this the stupidest swap ever when tehres other options that will give you the same numbers (approximatley) at about half the cost, and about 1/3 the work necessary

This is not a stupid swap. Do you think the first H22 swap was deemed the best idea in the world. This is the natural progression of motorsports and I think it would be an awesome swap. Think, K24 with type-s head and boost. Now that would be awesome and it would be a really fun car. I would like to see this done and It is not just because I like rare swaps enough to try one in my own car, but because it is good for the accord community.

not at all, the h22 came stock in 5th gen accords in japan, so there were resources available, the k-series doesnt come stock in any 5th gen accord, IMO this is kinda like an h22 swap into an integra or civic
