Default Shifter and shift linkage feel trough!

...to the ground. The "Cup" is all worn and now I have to shift while holding the shifter up with my hand. Should I just go to the welder to weld around the cup to make it smaller or what?

And you should, go home....jk

To the original poster, post a pic because I don't believe the cup has worn down, I believe a bolt came loose.

I bet its the shifter bushings or the bolts that hold them in that are gone... its not hard to fix, compared to the transmission.

Thanks guys for help, if it wasn't for the shifter handle the whole thing just drops to the bottom. I went under the car, didn't look too hard, but it seems like linkage and the shift assembly is totaly loose from the rest of the car. I'll try to get some pictures when I get a chance.
