Acura Lease and Doing My Own Oil Changes...
I think your main worry from that would most likely be if by some chance your engine was messed up in some way from you changing your own oil...and the likelihood of them finding that out...but given how easy it is to change oil, and the fact that nothing will probobly happen, chances are they'll never know (unless in your warranty it requires you to get your oil changed at the dealership, which is probobly not likely).
If something goes wrong to the engine and they find out that you did your own oil change, they'll make you pay for the damange.
It cost my friend at least $6500 to replace his S2k engine because they denied his warantty claim base on that fact that the oil change wasn't done at a Honda Dealer Ship. He did oil change at his friend's Jiffy Lube or Goodyear something shop and he could have sued them but his friend was involved so he just had to pay for it.
It's not worth it risking your waranty doing your own oil change but that just IMO.

why would you bother doing it on your own? It seems like its only worth it, to do the oil change if you are using synthetic. But why use that on a leased car?
If I was leasing something expensive like a car I would read through all the paperwork myself and not rely on anyone elses suggestions on something like this.

I dont know what kind of BS shop that honda dealership is running, but as far as warranty work goes, unless you've modified your engine, regardless of WHO did your oil changes, you dont even have to have paper work showing you EVER got your oil changed, they have to warranty the car...unless it was DIRECTLY caused by the oil in the engine by some chance. We had our civic for nearly 5 years and we NEVER had the oil changed at the dealership...brought it in for warranty work on the engine a few times and it was never even questioned...and once on the S2000 thus far (again, without having honda do the oil changes since it runs RedLine oil that we have to put in ourselves) for noise coming from the clutch, it again, it wasnt even questioned.

Well maybe not on small problems and it all depends on which dealer you're dealing with. In my friend's case, the engine was totally done so that's a really high cost for Honda and their district manager was a bitch.

Figures...luckily our honda dealer we've been using for years is a diamond in the rough so to speak, they have people come in with hydrolocked engines from CAI's all the time, and ive seen where they've actually had the poeple take their intakes off and install the factory counter part in the parking lot, and then honor their warranty afterwards...pretty nice guys.
Not too good about getting our s2000 car cover though...bastards.

Nothing...when we bought the car they told us we got a black cover with "S2000" stiched in red on it, it was like $125 in the catalog...but everytime i go up there i hear "Oh it was here but it was sent to another dealer, we'll order another" or "I dont know what happened to it..." lol, ive give up pretty much on it...but one day when i go up there im just going to be like "Hey, i want to BUY a black cover for my S2000..." wait for them to bring it to me or order it specifically for me to buy, then be like "Thanks, this was supposed to be in my hands months ago..." and just walk away. lol
