Default Oil pan...HELP!!! QUICK!!!

ok, so my car is lowered which means i hit a lot of stuff. Well i guess i bottomed out and smacked my oil pan. Well it has a hairline crack on the front bottom corner. It leaks like a siv when the engine is hot. Is there a quick way i can fix it, maybe epoxy it? I'm not too too worried cause I found one at a junkyard for 40 bucks and then the seal........is it hard to replace?

As it is a fairly critical component of the engine I would suggest replacing it.

For a temporary fix JBweld it. Sand around the area mix the JBweld and apply, let it dry for a day. It will hold just fine until you can replace it.

ok great, how about epoxy??? is that a good thought? I just found one used pretty cheap too, and also, when I take it off, there is that main support beam running right under it. Will that beam be hard to get back on? Meaning maybe the bold holes may not line up??? Hmm...and what kind of gasket should i get?

I am dropped and haven't bottomed out in 4 years which means you're driving like an idiot. Replace the oil pan or use some jbweld in the mean time as a quick fix.

no it isn't hard to replace the oil pan. just get a size 10 socket i believe and then put your car on jack stands, drain the oil take the pan off. You can now put the pan back on but don't forget the gasket seal, very vital if you don't use it you will be leaking oil. good luck.

I don't drive like an idiot, i'm not stupid like 1/2 the people on HT. The roads here in PA are pretty bad and there's a particular road that i have to go through that's pure hell. I admit that it was my own fault for not raising it back up for the winter though .....one more ? , do i have to take off my down pipe and the support beam???

you should be able to take off 16 10mm bolts faster than it should take you to put some jbweld on it. jbweld is just going to leak anyways. jack that car up and fix it man

That's understandable but still avoidable IMO.

Yes it would be the uninstall and reinstall a lot easier to remove the DP and the support beam. If you don't remove those you can squirm the oil pan around and remove it without taking off those items .

i would just replaceit, go ahead and jbweld it to hell but all it takes is one tiny bump on the sucker and you'll have some seized bottemend for good.

you might or might not need to dump the downpipe, but that's like a 10 minute job.

Just replaced mine. I had to remove the downpipe and support beam. The damn support beam was a BIIIAAAATCHmch to put back on. She didn't want to line up. But other than that, it was a peice of cake. 10mm bolts on the pan. 12 and 14 mm bolts on the downpipe where it connects to the cat. 14mm bolts on the downpipe and 14mm bolts on the support beam.

I paid like 17 bucks for my oil pan gasket from autozone.

Have fun.

I can vouch for you on that. Pennsylvania roads suck ***. I'm suprised I got out of there in one piece when I went up there.

Thanks guys, I really do appreciate everyone's feedback. I figured that the support beam would be a bitch, and some of you said that you can squirm out the pan without taking them off, so I might give that a try. I just went to the junkyard today to pick up an oil pan which only ran me 45 and then I snatched up all the door weatherstripping for 10 bucks!!!!

I know the roads up here are horrible, I hate large speed bumps too...grrr. But thanks a lot everyone....truly!!!
