Default shift ****

My s2 has that stainless steel shift ****,but I really want to put the leather one on,I know they screw on/off but I tried and no luck, how can I swap them?Thanks in advance

I would do this as a last resort, keep trying to do it by hand first...

why a last resort? doesnt hurt the shift **** if you wrap a towel around it.

I don't know, I would just be real careful...I don't even wear rings to scratch my **** (maybe I am just **** about stupid ****). Maybe try a Craftsman Strap Wrench.

do I need to have something clamping the actual shifter,or will I be cool just clamping the **** and turning.(it just doesnt feel right when I try to twist hard and the shifter seems to twist with it) THANKS

If your shifter is twisting w/ it you have issues. That shouldn't be happening.

Dont most/all of the OEM Aluminum/Titanium ***** use a reverse-threaded lock nut underneath? If so, you'll have to loosen it first.
