Default .....my first turbo casualty. :/

So I am driving on the highway for about an hour tonight - on the way to meet a group of friends for dinner when I smell this semi-sweet, semi sour, semi toxic scent. I saw flashing blue lights a little while ago and I think maybe a chemical truck has had some type of accident and that must be what I smell.

WRONG!

I have this nagging fear that maybe I have leaked my ac system somehow, and my fears are confirmed when I pop the hood and see the rubber ac line must have gotten too hot while I was driving on the hwy... it has popped open right near the turbo manifold...

Damn. My ac blew damn cold before this incident. Now it blows **** warm.....

Anybody got a spare dc2 upper rubber ac hose for sale?

I promise I will heat wrap it this time.

Did ya at least catch a buzz from the fumes ?

glad it was only that, cause while I was reading I had the thought of antifreeze burning in the exhaust

THIS is why I love h-t!

It is the big rubber one between the radiator and the motor - going across the front and towards the driver side... bolted to the little bracket that goes over the radiator...

Is that the one that feeds into ac pulley?

I am pretty sure i have that thing sitting in my garage. I'll be home after finals in about a week. So i can send it then. If you need it earlier then get it from the other guy

funny thing is i have done that already too, but it was the line that runs along the intake. One of my nitrous nozzles rubbed thru it. sucks.

I've been through two of Ken's particular hose already. Not too pricey to buy it online. Get a few dipsticks while you're ordering parts online.

The BETTER money (for me-- I have a wastegate that's in the way of that line) is to fab a hard line that goes past all the hot stuff, then rubber into the compressor.

But yeah, yours wasn't gonna last long without any heat wrap. Mine was heat wrapped but never made it through an HPDE, it was fine on the street. It only failed because of my wastegate/dumptube location.

A/C? You still have that? Well I have my complete a/c system sitting in storage. Hit me up if you want the hose.

get some 1000-2000 degree tape, make sure its not touching any exhaust parts... i had a problem where it was touching dumptube bolt, but i got it fixed before it burned through.
