My first Honda!!
I just purchased my very first Honda and thought I'd say Hi and see if I can get a few recommendations on some parts and things. I'm not new to cars at all. I started off with a Neon(which got wrecked), then I bought a 90 Talon TSI but I just have to many problems with the drivetrain and other well known DSM problems.I've also helped several of my friends out on there cars and have done a few things with Honda's but not much. So now I own this 91 CRX SI. I picked up 2 of them from a yard for $600, an 89 SI, and a 91SI. The 89 was rotted away badly but I salvaged what I could from the car and will be posting things for sale once my trial period is up. The 91SI has a JDM ZC swap with the PG7 ECU and it runs good! The body is in decent shape but needs a bit of work and some paint but other than that it's a good car.
I'm looking to start with the suspension. I'm leaning towards the AGX's with the H&R race springs but was wondering about the ride quality? My Neon was really ruff with GR2's and Eibach sportline and I didn't like it at all. I'm hoping with the AGX's I can adjust the stiffness so it's comfortable and then stiffen it up when I hit the tracks this summer.
The other questions I have are about the motor. I hear the ZC responds well to boost and I was thinking about piecing together a turbo kit but don't know where to start. I've read about the HF? manifold being used as a turbo manifold and so much other stuff that I'm confused now. There is so much stuff to do with a Honda that wasn't possible with my other cars!
Also what kind of power/boost can I squeeze from this stock ZC? Should I even bother messing with it at all? I eventually want to do a B16a swap but I need to sell my Talon before I can afford to do that.

well I can say from experience that the AGX adjustables are some good bang for your buck shocks. I had them on my EG and they work AMAZING IMO for the $$$ I spent. I would say go w Ground Control Coilovers and the AGXs ($500-$600) and youre good. You can use almost any D-Series manifold if you can fab it up. Also, I wouldnt squeeze/boost on any stock internal motor - I would bore it out, port match everything, drop the compression w some new pistons maybe 8.5:1 or 9.0:1 and make sure the you have some monster injectors and a good fuel pump. I would build the motor from the inside out and sleeve it before you decide to turbocharge it. A good site to go to would be http://www.homemadeturbo.com yes mess with it it would be worth it.
What are some decent online shops for Honda? I don't have many local places to pick from and will be ordering online for the most part. The cheapest I found the GC's and AGX's for was ebay for about $575 shipped but I was wondering if there was a better place to buy from. So pretty much anything from a D series will work with the ZC? I know the ports from a D series header will need to be ground out to align properly with the head. I just don't know if I want to keep this engine yet. My freinds say I should keep it and boost it but if I have to fully build it I'm not sure if I want to. Would it be able to handle say 8-10 psi from a 14b? I think I have one of those laying around and it would be great if I could use that on the ZC.
I like my Tokico Illumina adjustable shocks... you could get coilovers but may i recommend a nice pair of SPRINGS... Tein maybe? Youll like the ride alot better if you go with springs not coilovers...

Well I'm looking to get a decent handling setup for a good price. They just opened up a road course 2 summers ago near me and I want to run on it this year. My buddy went last summer a few times with his prelude and had a blast. He was running on a Tein true coilover setup but I don't have that kinda green LOL! I'm thing the GC's and AGX's will be good for me and maybe I'll add in a set of poly bushings and sway bars later on this summer. I've still got allot of work to do on this Crx before I can get it road ready though. I'm just trying to get some ideas/info on what is better and what works.

Oh yea welcome to H-T
welcome to HT...if you plan on sticking with the Zc (is it DOHC or SOHC?) you should look into registering on http://www.thezcr.com
Once you are there look up Liams ZC project. last i heard he was making like 400+ hp on his daily driver civic. He has a SICK turbo set up on his ZC and can dominate almost anything.
I'm gonna stick with the ZC and not be so quick to jump on the B series wagon. but do what you need to do.

Oh it's a DOHC ZC! I've been reading over at thezcr.com for a few days now too. If I understand right the ZC likes boost so that is why I was thinking of going turbo with it. I'll do a search for liams zc project and see whats going on with that. Sounds pretty sick!
