It's best to try on the Helmet before buying, so it fits properly. Since you live in San Clemente, there is a place in Huntington Beach where you can try on different helmets. Tell them I sent you, so they give you a discount.

I got mine on tuesday from www.ompusa.com I got the bieffe chin bar type on tuesday on sale for about $230. It was here within 2 business days. Mad cool company, I got my pedals from them just as fast.

Get a tape measure. Not a steel one like carpenters use, but a flexable plastic one like for sewing. Wrap it around you head just above your ears and measure your melon. On the site they have a sizing chart that will tell you what size you are based on that measurement. Ideally you should try a helmet on, but that wasn't practical for me because of where I live. Good luck.

Try this too for sizing information:

It is also where I got my helmet from.

Absolutely.

You can measure your head and buy one by mail - but you have a good chance of finding that it's REALLY uncomfortable and you have to send it back. Ask me how I know.

Go to a shop in person. Try on several different helmets in your size and you'll be amazed at the difference in fit and comfort. Buy the helmet in person there, even if it's a few bucks more than mail order; the stores don't provide this as a free service so you can buy a helmet elsewhere.

I dont think you can just "auto-determine" the size of your head...
http://www.ebay.com for some good deals on helmets, i dont know of any good suggestable web sites though
Yup they can determine that over the internet. Just hod you head up the screen and press the "print Screen" button. It will be transmitted to the website. Then they can properly determine the size of you melon.

Really though. You'll want to try on on. Check out http://www.bellmotorsports.com under helmets they have a the proper way to fit a helmet. Infact I would recomend them to purchase from too.

When looking at helmet pricing, and various models, just remember to ask yourself this...

"Do you have a $500 head, or a $50 head"

Why would you want a second hand helmet? Get the best you can afford.

http://www.helmetcity.com Really helpful and nice guys. They have a wide range of brands, and they have a liberal return policy too in case it does not fit right when you get it.

So what model helments do you like, I used to dirt bike ride with my dad and Bell was usually allways the brand helmet i saw most riders (including my self at the time) had. I went to http://www.subesports.com/products/?...ets&brand=Bell and they have alot of diffrent models. What do you prefere & why?

Reason i'm getting a helmet is mainly for AutoX'ing. I want to get into the sport....

I don't know what your personal preference is (ie. open or closed face helmet), but I preferred a closed face helmet. I went with a Bell SR Pro (see picture below) because of the wide eye port and it didn't have a shield (I have no need for a shield since I don't drive an open antidisestablishmentarianismpit car). I bought mine from Racer Wholesale 3 year ago and I noticed that they are having a clearance on their helmet right now. Just for instance, you can get an Bell SR Pro for $210 (regular price is $250) http://www.racerwholesale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?ScreenROD&Store_Code=RW&Product_Code=MAT2304&Category_Co de=Racing+Helmets . Well that's my $.02 worth. HTH
