Tranny Woes
well, my si tranny recently started to grind 3rd and it makes a lot of noise anyhow, so i need to replace it. i have a dohc zc tranny and another si tranny but somebody ran the 2nd si tranny low on oil and it makes an incredible amount of noise. i was thinking that i could use everything but 5th and the final drive out of my zc tranny, and make a hybrid. Is it safe to assume that this won't make noise or not?
I was also thinking about putting a obx lsd in while i have the trans apart and replacing the main bearings.

Just build a hybrid trans...the noise in the trans that was low on lubricant might just be the bearings. You replace all five internal bearings and the mainshaft seal and it might be like buttery smooth...

we took it to a mechanic and he said running low on oil can cause microscopic scars on the gears, and this produces the noise. i probably will replace the bearings, tho.
