Default What is this part called?

The upper radiator hose connects to? Its not shown in this diagram but its the closest I can get. TIA

i ahve no idea what its called, but i know the thermostat goes in there. it connects to the back water pipe right?

EDIT: never mind, the thermo stat piece connects to the block(lower radiator hose)

Doesnt connect to the back water pipe. It connects straight to the cylinder head.

I've always called it the gooseneck also. I am if South Carolina though, a little more redneck than NC.
